Diego Carretero & Sara Zazo

Altera Inde

Committed to the creation and development of new repertoire, the Altera Inde artistic project (Diego Carretero & Sara Zazo) delves into the heart of the contemporary music scene. Through collaborations with composers and the commissioning of new works, Altera Inde aims to expand the saxophone duo repertoire and highlight the artistic expressions of our time. With a musical trajectory spanning more than a decade, the duo has performed in prestigious venues and festivals across Europe, establishing themselves as a solid and renowned ensemble in the contemporary music landscape.

Carretero and Zazo began their journey as a duo in 2013 with an educational project that had a significant presence in Extremadura (southern Spain), where they trained a large number of talented young saxophonists. Their pedagogical work emphasized contemporary language for instrumentalists. Soon after, the duo expanded their focus to pursue a full artistic career.

Altera Inde has achieved remarkable visibility across the European contemporary music scene, with notable appearances at prestigious venues and festivals such as BKA Theater in Berlin, Unerhörte Musik, the MERIDIAN Festival in Bucharest (Romania), and the concert season of Spain’s Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (CNDM). Their artistic journey is further enriched by collaborations with leading figures in contemporary performance, including Giulia Lorusso, Gonzalo Navarro, Alex Nante, Ezko Kikoutchi, Simone Movio, and Inés Badalo, among others. This trajectory underscores Altera Inde’s steadfast commitment to fostering and promoting new creation within the avant-garde musical landscape.

In 2019, they released their first studio album, HIRAETH—a collection of acoustic masterpieces for saxophone duo that was highly praised by specialized critics. Since then, Altera Inde has centered its artistic exploration on the symbiosis between saxophones and electronics.
